This restaurant brewery is situated right in thecentre of Prague approximately 400 m from Wenceslas Square inVodickova street no. 20 and started business in 1993.

It grew out of the great idea of joining arestaurant and micro-brewery in one complex andillustrating the interior with styles from gothic halls right up to the 20sand 30s of 20th century, including rich interior decoration. This ideaconnects with a tradition, long interrupted, which according to chroniclesbegan in the 14th century, where somewhere in these places stood a buildingwhere a brewer lived who was licensed by law to brew beer. There is nofurther mention of beer being brewed in this street up to the present day.

This complex was the result of a felicitous linking of the cellar spacewith the above-ground area. In every larger brewery the beer being brewed ishidden from the sight of guests and consumers of the beer. Here it isprecisely the opposite! Right inside the brewing house, several times a weekvisitors have the opportunity to follow the master brewers during thebrewing of beer. Then you leave by the corridor around the kitchen wherechefs prepare for you food that is always fresh and of high quality andspecialities of Czech and international cuisine.

Next you pass into another space, the so called "spilka", where a further stagein the production of beer takes place. Here the guests have a view fromtheir table through a window of five vermentation vats. Then the beer ismatured in a beer cellar for maybe 6 weeks, from where it is drawn off intothe bars, where you can already sample it. This beer is light or darknovomestsky non-filtered fermented 11% lager. It is a so called "naturalproduct".

After being presented with themenu, written in many languages, you can giveyourself over toculinary delights in the atmosphere of theNovomestsky Pivovar. To enhanceyour pleasure, every evening our accordionistFrantisek, a famous cabaretartist renowned throughout the whole of Europe, willplay and sing.

As you leave you can buy several of thecommemorative objects. Fromglasses with the logo Novomestsky Pivovar, all theway up to 5 litre barrelsof beer.
